Vision Sunday- A Church Like Antioch
Hillcrest Church, December 9, 2007
Our Mission
To make disciples of all people everywhere.
Our Vision
To become a New Testament church like the one at Antioch. (Acts 11-18)
Our Destiny
What is an Antioch kind of church?
· A church that God uses to touch many people and to help many other churches.
· A church that loves God’s Word and tries to do everything it says.
· A church where people feel God's presence and that celebrates the work of the Holy Spirit.
· A church that cares about poor people and tries to help the hurting every way it can.
· A church that welcomes all kinds of people, no matter their nationality, culture, language, skin color, religious background, economic status, or history of failure.
· A church that wants everyone to know Jesus personally.
· A church that helps people discover the reason they are alive and that sends them into every world all around the world.
Our Strategy
How will we will grow an Antioch kind of church?
· By moving people into God’s manifest presence.
· By grounding people in God’s Word.
· By mobilizing people for God’s harvest.
How are we laying a foundation for an Antioch kind of church?
· Through prayer, praise, and worship.
· Through expository (Bible-based) preaching and systematic, life-application oriented Bible teaching and personal study.
· Through intentional outreach in our personal and corporate Jerusalems and Samarias.
How will we will develop Antioch kind of people?
By walking individuals through the Discipleship Cycle - We BRING them into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and the fellowship of this local church; HEAL them everywhere they hurt; and TRAIN them to live according to biblical principles, so they will LEAD by serving others, as we SEND them into whatever world God is calling them to so they can make disciples of all people everywhere.
